Located in the Heart of Acadiana
The term Acadiana, pronounced "a-kay'-dee-anna," has evolved to symbolize the rich cultural tapestry of south Louisiana. It encapsulates the well-known "joie de vivre" present in Cajun and Creole Country, the industrious yet celebratory ethos of the local residents, and the deep connection to the land established by our forebears generations ago.
While the distinct qualities that define this region trace their roots to the early settlers, the term Acadiana itself is relatively recent. On June 6, 1997, the area received official state recognition, marking the 26th anniversary of its designation as a specific region of Louisiana. In 1971, Governor Edwin Edwards signed the bill outlining the 22-parish (county) region of Acadiana, with Lafayette, LA serving as a central hub within this culturally vibrant expanse.
